After a Five year hiatus, the Nation’s prince Park Bo-gum hit us hard with his terrific performance in  Kdrama “When Life Gives You Tangerines” along with the Nation’s little sister IU.

 His performance as a silent,yet unshaken young man who dedicated himself as a loyal, lovable boyfriend/husband which every woman and IU, the stubborn, optimistic girl who want to achieve greater heights is a spectacular drama to watch in 2025.

Episode 1: A Step-daughter

An elderly woman in a home care was thinking what’s to be written in a paper, it just a paper give to her to draw or write her thoughts by her care taker.

And finally she scribbled something by saying that she never expected to live upto 70 years. Now the light blue scribble takes her to the sea. Out of her everything the first call is “Mom”, her eyes filled with emotions and body shakes.

Ae sun, a  young girl shouts at her mom who looks for abalone with her fellow working woman with Gwan-sik, a red cheek boy behind.

Gwan-sik, this small boys noted what they collected from sea in amidst of fighting over people who wanted to share the collected seaweed and abalone. Clearly, Ae sun mother don’t want to help anybody.

Her mom was married to Oh family and then got remarried when the family kept Ae sun. Her mom says  Ae sun to go and eat at home though Ae sun wanted to taste what she got from the sea. she insisted that her husband will be back home and wanted her first born daughter to leave to her ex-husband home. 

Though found to be a greed, never care woman, her heart was shaken when she told her mother that she don’t get enough food. The little girl never knows how much her mother wanted her to eat good food and education which led her to leave her own daughter in dead ex-husband house.she cannot tolerate the ill-treat that stormed the house and got her daughter back.her second husband,father of two, good for nothing who leech someone to live of his daily life. 

Gwan-sik always be Oh Ae sun, at school, a neighbour and the one who even wants to give oh family and extra fish so that her friend Ae sun would get something to eat.

After few months,her mother is dying and she wants Ae sun to go her uncle’s house where she was denied proper food, but still she thinks that her second husband would take care of the both children and Ae sun may be left behind. Though reluctant, she agreed and within few days her mother is no more!!

No one is now for her, but still Gwan-sik do whatever he could and always stick with her.

She sow cabbages along with Gwan-sik ,her all time support and got a living with her two siblings by selling fish and cabbages.Still she did not go to her uncle’s home upon her stepfather promise that he would take care of her college expenses. He wanted to do as he knows that she is a good housekeep for his toddler and baby with his mother passed away.

Years passed! Teen Gwan-sik treat her as a queen, Her ambition is now to become a poet and he sells cabbage and fish to meet their daily ends. Gwan-sik has a Grandmother,a shaman and clearly don’t like Ae sun and his mother thinks that this guy won’t leave Ae sun.

The entire neighborhood is now enchant to see gwan-sik’s Queen Oh Ae sun.

Years passed, 1967, everything gotta changed, only thing that remains is Adult Gwan-sik’s Queen Adult Oh Ae sun.

Episode 2: The First Kiss

Love flows gradually between these two beautiful souls and all of the sudden they kiss each other. No flowers no proposal, just gradually as they know that they both meant for each other.yet another big blow came into Ae sun life when her Min-ok, her stepfather now wants to marry a new lady. She become disheartening to see that her stepfather lied to her about her college fees and all she is yet again left without anything. She visits her uncle house sometimes to see her Grandma who does some part time jobs to atleast buy her some sweets.

She had no where to go but to her all time saviour.Gwan-sik and Ae-sun ran away after taking as much as things from their respective home and reached Busan ,pretend as husband and wife,where they robbed by the motel owner.his mom is heartbroken and wanted to find them at all cost. She cannot accept the fact that his very good son is actually now a runaway kid with that girl Ae sun.

They want to take back all the gold ornaments and cash. They plan to raid the motel owner at night time and eventually get caught and the episode 2 ends. So far it’s a fantastic drama with the mixture of friendship and family with seasoning of love.

This fantastic slice-of-life is regarded  with numerous accolades and a big hit to park Bo-gum  and IU both domestic and international viewership.

This is one of the best Kdramas to watch in 2025.
