Korean sunscreens are known for their elegant textures, and Beauty of Joseon is one of the most talked-about brands right now. I tried three of their popular sunscreens:
1.Relief Sun (Rice + Probiotics) – white tube
2.Aqua Fresh – blue tube
3.Matte Sun Stick (Mugwort + Camellia)
Here’s my honest, experience-based(oily acne prone skin) review of all three Beauty of Joseon Sunscreen variants, especially from a hot and humid climate perspective.
Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun (Rice + Probiotics) Review – White Tube
My Experience
Honestly, this feels more like a moisturizer than a sunscreen. It blends very easily into the skin and gives a natural, healthy look. But in humid weather, I noticed my T-zone gets oily and shiny after a few hours.
Texture & Finish
The texture is creamy and smooth, and it spreads without any effort. It’s lightweight, but still slightly hydrating. The finish is not matte—it gives a soft, dewy glow.
White Cast
This is where I had an issue. On deeper skin tones, the white cast is quite noticeable and doesn’t fully settle, which can be a drawback.
Key Ingredients
It contains rice extract, which helps with hydration and gives a subtle brightening effect. The probiotics support the skin barrier, making it feel soothing on the skin. It also uses modern UV filters, so the sun protection feels lightweight and comfortable rather than heavy.
Who It Suits
I feel this works well for normal, combination, and sensitive skin. It’s gentle and comfortable for daily use. But if you have very oily skin, especially in peak summer or if you sweat a lot, this might feel heavy.
Acne Check
It didn’t irritate my skin, but I can see how very oily, acne-prone skin might find it a bit too much over time.
Final Thoughts
Overall, it’s a comfortable everyday sunscreen if you like a natural, slightly dewy finish. But if your main concern is oil control, this is probably not the best choice.
Quick Verdict: ✖️
Overall, it’s a comfortable everyday sunscreen if you like a natural, slightly dewy finish. But if your main concern is oil control, this is probably not the best choice.
Beauty of Joseon Aqua Fresh Sunscreen Review – Blue Tube
My Experience
This felt noticeably lighter than the white tube and worked much better in humid weather. It stayed relatively fresh throughout the day and didn’t turn overly oily, which makes it a good option if you struggle with shine.
Texture & Finish
It has a gel-cream texture that absorbs quickly into the skin. The finish feels fresh and non-greasy, without that heavy or sticky layer.
Key Ingredients
The formula focuses on lightweight hydration while helping maintain oil balance. It feels designed more for controlling excess shine rather than deep moisturization.
White Cast
I didn’t notice any white cast, even after proper blending.
Who It Suits
I think this works really well for oily, combination, and acne-prone skin. But if you have very dry skin, it might not feel hydrating enough.
Acne / Breakout Check
This feels more suitable for acne-prone skin compared to the white version. It’s lighter and less likely to feel pore-clogging over time.
Comparison
Compared to Relief Sun, this one feels less heavy and is more suitable for hot, humid daytime conditions.
Final Thoughts
If the white tube felt too heavy or greasy for you, this is definitely the better choice.
Quick Verdict: ✔️
Best for oily and combination skin. Not ideal for very dry skin. The finish is fresh, lightweight, and slightly semi-matte, with no white cast.
Beauty of Joseon Matte Sun Stick Review
My Experience
This is very convenient, especially when I don’t want to touch my face. It works well for quick touch-ups and helps reduce shine, even over makeup or existing sunscreen. However, I did notice a couple of pustules the next day whenever I used it, so it may not suit oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin.
Texture & Finish
It has a balm-like stick texture that glides smoothly over the skin. The finish is matte and helps control excess oil.
Key Ingredients
It contains silica, which helps with oil control and gives that matte effect. The sunscreen filters are lightweight, making it comfortable for reapplication.
White Cast
I didn’t notice any white cast during application or reapplication.
Who It Suits
I think this is ideal for people who reapply sunscreen regularly and want something mess-free. It also works well for oily skin if you’re looking for a mattifying touch-up. But it may not suit oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin based on my experience.
Acne / Breakout Check
Generally safe for many, but in my case, I noticed small pustules the next day. Also, this shouldn’t replace your main sunscreen layer.
Comparison
Unlike cream sunscreens, this is not meant for full protection on its own. It works best as a touch-up option during the day.
Final Thoughts
Great for convenience and easy reapplication, but it’s best used as a top-up—not your main sunscreen.
Quick Verdict: ✔️
Best for reapplication and on-the-go use. Not suitable as your first layer of sunscreen. The finish is matte with no white cast. test it first for 2 days if you get pustules, avoid it.

After trying all three, I feel like each sunscreen serves a completely different purpose. The white tube is very hydrating and gentle on the skin, but it may not suit oily skin, especially in humid conditions. The blue tube, on the other hand, feels much lighter and works better for oily skin—in fact, I found it to be a really good option compared to many other sunscreens. The sun stick is more about convenience; I mostly use it at home for quick application, sometimes just a couple of swipes in the morning as a primary sunscreen. It does leave a slightly filmy, a bit sticky layer on my face, and I noticed a couple of pustules the next day, but still not as much as the white tube. Overall, I think choosing the right one depends more on your skin type and climate rather than just the hype around these products.
